6/23/2008 - HONEYWELL’S DOLPHIN® 9900 DELIVERS THE LATEST DATA CAPTURE, WIRELESS COMMUNICATION AND GPS CAPABILITIES
Combination of Robust Features and Ergonomic, Rugged Design Optimized for the Industrial Mobile Worker
Skaneateles Falls, NY – June 23, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announces its new Dolphin® 9900 Mobile Computer to help ensure intuitive use, reliability and enhanced productivity for workers in the field. With integrated voice and data communication, GPS and advanced Adaptus® Imaging Technology for barcode scanning and picture taking, the Dolphin 9900 lets businesses stay connected with their employees, supply chain and customers more effectively and more efficiently.
“Coming off the tremendous worldwide success of its predecessor, the Dolphin 9500, our target customer for the Dolphin 9900 are businesses that value a mobile computing platform with the latest technologies as well as comfortable and reliable use for the mobile worker all day long,” said Greg Payne, Manager of Product Marketing, Mobility Systems, Honeywell Imaging and Mobility. “While many manufacturers have migrated to less durable PDA-like solutions, the Dolphin 9900 class of product is being adopted across all core vertical segments, including transportation, retail, warehousing, logistics and healthcare. The 9900 fills a significant customer requirement for a device built specifically to serve applications in harsh environments that require high levels of both barcode scanning and keypad data entry. Additionally, the Dolphin 9900 delivers full Shift Plus™ battery performance—10+ hours—virtually eliminating the need to replace batteries during most work shifts. You simply cannot find this optimized balance of performance, durability and ease of use from any other mobile computing manufacturer.”
The Dolphin 9900 is Honeywell’s first solution that enables customers to capitalize on the company’s lifecycle strategy for backwards compatibility. This platform allows customers using the
Dolphin 9500 to migrate to the next-generation Dolphin 9900 while keeping much of their legacy infrastructure—accessories, batteries and device peripherals—in place, creating the potential for significant cost savings. Additionally, user interaction with the Dolphin 9900 is nearly identical to that of its predecessor, reducing or eliminating requirements for user training and easing the migration of software applications onto the new device.
“Our goal is to earn customers for life,” said Garrison Gomez, Director of Product Marketing, Honeywell Imaging and Mobility. “A major part of that strategy is creating a lifecycle model that makes it easy for a customer to upgrade to a next-generation solution. Through interface similarity and backwards compatibility with our previous generation device, we can help make migrating to the latest technology a less costly and less resource-intensive process for customers.”
The industrial-grade Dolphin 9900 is built to be an extremely reliable solution with a highly rugged design and advanced power management technology to ensure uninterrupted performance in heavy-use environments. Specifications include an IP64 rating, 5-foot drops to concrete and testing to withstand more than 2,000 3-foot tumbles.
The Dolphin 9900’s computing architecture is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 with an Intel® PXA 270 624 MHz processor with 256MB RAM x 1GB FLASH memory to ensure fast performance in data intensive applications. An integrated Wi-Fi certified 802.11b/g radio delivers real-time network access to mission-critical information and supports advanced wireless security standards. The Dolphin 9900 is Cisco CCX v4 certified and offers multi-mode wireless connectivity (GSM/GPRS, WLAN and Bluetooth).
“Windows Mobile enables businesses to mobilize their workforces and equip them with the applications they need to optimize productivity in the field,” said Scott Horn, general manager of the Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft Corp. “The Dolphin 9900 is a great example of a mobile device that leverages our software to empower industrial mobility customers with powerful customer service-enhancing capabilities.”

4/22/2008 - HONEYWELL LEADING TREND TO MEET FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SECURITY REQUIREMENTS FOR WIRELESS APPLICATIONS
Honeywell Cordless Barcode Scanners among First to Offer FIPS 140-2 Certified Encryption for Enhanced IT Security
Skaneateles Falls, NY – April 21, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced its line of cordless handheld image scanners are now independently certified to meet the FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) 140-2 security level required by U.S. government departments. Honeywell is one of the first automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) manufacturers to deliver FIPS-certified cordless handheld barcode scanners.
Honeywell’s three main cordless scanners—the 3820 Cordless Linear Image Scanner, 4820 Cordless 2D Image Scanner and 4820i Industrial 2D Cordless Image Scanner—are now available with the option of a FIPS-validated security module.
Government specialist The Culver Group has relied on Honeywell cordless scanners for several years to provide the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) healthcare facilities with reliable, high-performance data collection technology.
“We needed a manufacturer to take the initiative and implement FIPS into a cordless scanner, which is exactly what Honeywell did, enabling us to help the VA continue its IT security initiative and preserve the privacy of their patients,” said Brian Czawlytko, Government Sales Manager at The Culver Group.
FIPS 140-2 validation ensures that a specific security technology has passed rigorous testing under the CAVP (Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program) and CMVP (Cryptographic Module Validation Program) by an accredited third-party laboratory, and can be used to secure sensitive information. FIPS encryption, while presently required only by the U.S. government, is valuable to any business or organization where data is transmitted wirelessly and there is a need for enhanced security.
“While required solely by the U.S. federal government at this point, we see great value in the ability to provide enhanced security capabilities to all of our customers, even if it’s not a mandate in their industry,” said Don Flynn, VP and GM of Image Scanning, Honeywell Imaging and Mobility. “FIPS certification enables us to deliver an overall more robust solution to the market.” For more information on Honeywell Imaging and Mobility, visit www.honeywell.com/aidc or call 1-800-582-4263.

3/13/2008 - HONEYWELL IMAGING TECHNOLOGY AUTOMATES & IMPROVES INDIANA’S LAW ENFORCEMENT TICKETING PROCESS
Law Enforcement Capture Data, Expect Substantial Efficiencies in Ticketing by Arming Officers with 2D Image Scanners
Skaneateles Falls, NY – March 13, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced that the Indiana State Judicial Technology and Automation Committee (JTAC) has developed an Electronic Citation and Warning System (eCWS) using the Honeywell Imaging and Mobility 4600r 2D Image Scanner as its primary scanning device.
Indiana State Law Enforcement Agencies are implementing a fully automated system for ticketing that is expected to extend through to all judicial branches. The new solution helps law enforcement agents improve efficiency by using the technology to scan the barcode on the back of a license, capture an image of the front of the license and scan the barcode on the vehicle’s registration. Currently, all warnings and citations are hand-written, then manually entered into the system.
The eCWS solution was designed with the help of officers and developed to meet specific on-the-job needs. This end-to-end solution was designed to cut down on the overhead associated with hand-written citations and will ultimately link a number of government and law enforcement agencies together onto one system.
Using the scanning technology, ticket fields are automatically populated with license and registration information. The officers can then print and issue the ticket on site. The information is automatically entered into a central database that can be accessed by the courts, appropriate law enforcement, state and federal agencies. The offenses and appropriate court information are automatically printed on the ticket; eliminating manual data entry, reducing administrative work and ensuring timely and accurate information.
Indiana law enforcement agencies will purchase the 4600r scanners from Data Ltd, an Indiana-based mobile technology company, which will handle all device staging, service, and support. “The durability of the 4600r is a perfect fit for the JTAC agencies,” stated Chris Havens, a government sales specialist with Data Ltd. “The versatility of this device offers the agencies exactly what they need when they are on the job. Powered by Adaptus® Imaging Technology, the scanner can read barcodes quickly from any angle and capture a full image of the driver’s license, which is especially helpful for out-of-state licenses.”
“We’ve heard from officers who have tested this solution that they’ve cut in half the time typically needed to issue a citation,” said Havens. “The average stop-time dropped from ten to five minutes. This is significant because it reduces the risk and time associated with sitting on the side of the road writing up the ticket. It also decreases the time that law enforcement agents spend on paperwork; allowing them more time to patrol and keep communities safe.”

Unique Solution Eliminates Moving Parts to Increase Device Reliability and Decrease Maintenance While Still Delivering High-Quality Document Imaging
Skaneateles Falls, NY – Feb 25, 2008 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today announced the new 4800dr Document Reader, designed to digitize hard-copy documents for paperless processing, storage and retrieval. The 4800dr is available for sale globally.
An alternative to page scanners, the 4800dr is optimized for applications that require documents to be imaged at the point of entering a workflow. In the pharmacy environment, the 4800dr captures images of items commonly processed as hard copies, including prescriptions and insurance cards.
“We designed the 4800dr as a solution that fits the document imaging workflow in specific types of environments,” said Don Flynn, VP and GM, Imaging Systems, Honeywell Imaging and Mobility. “In the pharmacy and other areas where there may not be a need for high-speed batch document imaging, or where the reliability of a solid-state design delivers an enhanced value, the 4800dr provides a high-performance and cost-effective solution.”
The 4800dr’s design features an imager, stand and tray that work together as an integrated document imaging system that enables capturing images of documents up to 8.5” x 11” (or A4) in size without any adjustments. Designed with a focus on durability and reliability, the 4800dr has no moving parts that can wear out or require replacement, and is backed by a comprehensive three-year warranty.
Powered by Adaptus® Imaging Technology 5.0, the 4800dr will image documents of any paper or text color. An integrated suite of image enhancement tools ensures optimum image quality and file size based on the users’ requirements. Adaptus also provides the added flexibility of reading all linear, stacked and 2D barcodes—eliminating the need for a secondary barcode scanner in some applications.

Skaneateles Falls, N.Y. – Oct. 22, 2007 – Hand Held Products, Inc., a global leader in image-based data collection solutions for mobile applications, announces that it has enhanced its Dolphin® 7900 Mobile Computer with integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, making it the only industrial-grade mobile data collection solution with fully integrated GPS capabilities available for sale today.
The Dolphin 7900 is purpose-built for applications in field sales and services, courier, utilities, government and route accounting. Its high-performance GPS architecture provides fast and accurate location-based information for navigation services, mobile asset tracking, and documentation of field service or visitation.
Multi-mode wireless connectivity — GSM/GPRS, WLAN and Bluetooth — provides real-time voice and data communication. When combined with GPS, this enables real-time tracking and management of field-based assets. Powered by Adaptus® Imaging Technology 5.0, the Dolphin 7900 can read linear and 2D barcodes, plus capture digital images and signatures. This combination of functionalities enables customers to deploy a single, complete and affordable solution, while reducing the support and management costs that result from utilizing multiple devices.
“The integration of GPS into the Dolphin 7900 enables enterprises to run new applications that can increase productivity and efficiency, while enhancing customer service,” said Scott Garmon, Senior Product Manager for Mobility Systems, Hand Held Products. “GPS opens new doors to advanced capabilities and, until now, it’s only been available in solutions with inferior durability or limited functionality. With the 7900, organizations can now deploy a comprehensive and extremely reliable solution to their workers in the field.”
Industrial-grade durability and environmental sealing ensures dependability, even in the most demanding real-world applications. Advanced Shift-PLUS™ Power Management enables the Dolphin 7900 to continue working for more than 10 hours, even in GPS and GSM/GPRS-centric uses, delivering uninterrupted data collection, communication and location-based use beyond an entire work-shift.
